Quotes from kids - belated
Yeah, I know, the Colorado trip ended a week ago. But it looks like people are still checking out the updates here, and I know that kids are still actively sharing pictures and memories on Facebook. So I figured maybe it's not too late to share one last set of quotes from kids on the trip.

These were actually collected several days before the end of the trip. For for the last few days we were gone, either we didn't have easy access to a computer, or there were just too many other fun things going on. So here goes:

"We were working on two houses in a trailer park. On one, we had to prime the whole house and paint the outside. On the other one, we painted everything, put up dry wall and made new windows. It used to look run down and now it looks really good. It made me feel really good that somebody's going to live in that house and I helped build it."
- Austin Hewett

"This week I've been working with this family with five kids, including a set of triplets. I got really attached to this one kid, Daniel, then I had to say goodbye to him, it was really sad. I was just sitting in my sleeping bag praying about that, and the song popped in my head, "You give and take away."
- Leo McGuinn

"I think I was placed at the Salvation Army and even more at the Food Bank for a reason, because I'm kind of shy, and it's hard to talk to people. So building a house wouldn't have been as much of a stretch, so God's plan fell into place for me to change."

Wrapping Up at YouthWorks

As we ended our time here at YouthWorks with a foot-washing ceremony, God was clearly present and students were deeply impacted, a defining moment for many. It was a late night here tonight and we will post a more detailed update tomorrow night! We head out first thing tomorrow morning to head to Durango. Please pray for safe travels and continued show of God's hand.

Quotes from kids
Update from Dale Russell:

Once again, I think God knew what He was doing.

Our planned "fun time" activity for this evening was supposed to have been a hike at The Monument, an incredible geographic formation, but it was canceled due to rain. It never rained here, but if it rains at all there, the footing can be slippery, and they didn't want to take chances.

We were all disappointed, but the staff pulled out a fantastic Plan B, and organized a skit night competition. Modesty prevents me from revealing who won, but they were all tons of fun, and I'm sure you'll see some pictures, maybe even video.

Every evening, the kids are full of great stories of how they saw God at work during the day. They all have terrific attitudes, and are enjoying serving not only the folks we're ministering to, but each other as well.

More quotes from kids:

"We've been babysitting for a single mom with five kids, including triplets. It's been an eye-opener to see how much they appreciate it, because we give them basic needs, like soap and shampoo. They need the attention because there are too many for the mom - the older ones don't get as much attention, so we played and cuddled with them. It made me grateful for the family I was brought up in and the life I've lived."
- Heather Suiter

"The past two days, we've been working at Candlewood Park, a trailer court for people who are financially challenged. We tore down inside and put up drywall. It's been fun helping."
- Ryan Gronwick

"Helping people is fun."
- Ben Cuellar

"We went and started to put KILZ on the wall, we painted the whole house and swept, went outside and painted the trim. Today we went and pulled a bunch of weeds, cause it was covered with them. Then we went to a house where the guy was dying of cancer and mowed his lawn, and cut down a bunch of branches. It's been cool and fun, it gives you a good feeling that you're helping people."
- Will Magner
